Custom Designs
Custom-designed work is a significant part of my business. These projects are generally based on a specific item of jewelry a client is seeking, or on a client’s desire to re-work a piece using stones they already own. These are often pieces inherited from a family member that have great personal significance but are not in a style compatible with the client’s aesthetic.
In either instance, I begin with a sketch drawn to scale for approval before beginning construction. If the design is in a style that I would consider adding to my Core Collection, I will construct a model that will allow me to cast the piece, setting the customer’s stones in the gold casting. Because this process allows me to replicate the design, I do not consider the time it takes to fabricate or carve the original model in my billable hours for my customer, keeping the cost of the new piece consistent with my Core Collection pricing structure.
If the client desires the new piece to be uniquely one of a kind, I will fabricate it directly in gold, setting the stones in the finished piece, and the cost will reflect the labor of construction.
